Hot Flashes, by Barbara Raskin, and it can only be found in the out of print section and the choice is limited to 7 but we found an economically priced edition. This is one of EVE's favorite books. It reads a little like a memoir but it is essentially a testimony to the friendships of women of have shared a history together that is both outrageous and painful. The women are "depression era babies," hence they would fall into the category of a bit beyond "a certain age." However, ties such as these women share are "ageless." approx. cost $15.75

, by Dorothea Benton Frank (From The Publisher) Set in the steamy, stormy landscape of South Carolina, "Sullivan's Island" marks the debut of an exquisitely talented writer--and tells the unforgettable story of one woman's courageous journey toward truth. approx. cost $5.59 "Achingly real."--Anne Rivers Siddons "Hilarious and wise."--Pat Conroy

Words I Wish I Wrote: A Collection of Writing that Inspired My Ideas, by Robert Fulghum ~~Unabashedly paying tribute to the writers who have helped shape his life, the author of All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten reveals his sources. The quotations reflect the most important ideas underlying Fulghum's living and thinking. This is his evidence that, as he's gone about finding his way, he's had great companions. The confirming statements, quotes, and credos that Fulghum recorded in his journals for years are collected here, organized thematically into such chapters as Companions, God, Bene-Dictions, Contra-Dictions, Simplify, Lafter, and Believe. Each begins with Fulghum's own insightful, introductory words, followed by inspiring passages drawn from a diverse group of sources, from Jerry Garcia to Albert Camus, Dylan Thomas to Franz Kafka, Marcel Proust to Beatrix Potter. Then, at the end of each chapter, Fulghum offers readers his own personal commentary on the sources - where he was introduced to their words, why he returns to them again and again, and how they may change you. As a rule we seek out women authors but for Robert Fulghum we made an exception!
