A mug for me
A mug for you
Overcoming middle-age
Offers a wonderful view
Sit thee down
And rest your bones
At this stage of life
We don’t have to answer phones
Or worry about looks
Or what “other people say”
We can simply sip our warmth
A beverage called “live for today!”

It definitely is NOT a time when life must automatically become slower and less challenging! It is a juncture in our lives when we need to delete two words from our vocabulary…"I Can't" Whether you have already arrived there or are headed in that direction…. Fifty IS FINE and definitely a time to . . .

Find Interesting New Experiences

“You stay young as long as you can learn, acquire new habits and suffer contradiction.”

Many find it helpful to keep a record of their thoughts, feelings, and activities, particularly when in the throes of self-examination. Whether you call it a diary or a journal, the one cardinal rule is THERE ARE NO RULES! Except the ones you make yourself. The fundamental purpose is not about finding the answers but understanding life’s questions. Remember that the important things often don’t happen on the surface but just below it and that’s where such writing can take you. There are multitudes of possible reasons to do this. A journal/diary can serve as: a confessional, a record, to improve writing skills, even as a form of meditation. We located a couple of resources.

We’re recommending a couple of books for your consideration. There are more volumes on mid-life than any of us can count, so we hope you’ll explore all the possibilities because that’s what this time of life is all about!

“I have enjoyed greatly the second blooming that comes when the finish the life of the emotions and of personal relations; and suddenly find-at the age of fifty, say-that a whole new life has opened before you, filled with things you can think about, study or read about…It is as if a fresh sap of ideas and thoughts was rising in you.” Agatha Christie
